Done in a Day (DIAD)

Done in a Day (DIAD) – DIAD provides volunteer support for community projects that can be accomplished in a one-time evening or weekend setting. Volunteers provide hands-on assistance (excluding solicit

ing, telemarketing, fundraising, or enabling fundraising) to nonprofit organizations in Collin County in need of volunteer assistance. Through this project JLCC supports a wide range of community services.

Impact: 30 - 40 agencies and 1,000s of citizens

Literacy Leaders

Literacy Leaders – Trained JLCC volunteers assist in teaching adult and children’s literacy classes, provide one-on-one tutoring, curriculum development, and facilitation of group sessions. This program offers adult education, early childhood education, and parenting education to speakers of a language other than English as well as basic literacy skills.

Impact: Over 100 non-English speaking adults and their families

Reaching Independence through Success and Education (R.I.S.E.)

The City House Transitional Living Program is designed for homeless young adults, ages 18 to 21, focusing on helping them grow and learn to live independently. Committee members will deliver an evidence-based curriculum teaching critical life skills designed for success.
